5 Fingers Footwear2008-06-17

The Vibram Five Fingers Range.
Deon is testing the 5Fingers SPRINT.

Deon testing the grip on his 5 Finger SPRINTI have always been a fan of no shoes. Mostly because I can't fit my feet into my kayak with anything on them, also just because it is nice to feel the world under my feet. So I got some Sprint 5 Fingers to test and man are they good. I can fit into my kayak with no great pain/discomfort actualy with none at all. I have done some paddling,foaming,hackey-ing and spent 5 days straight in them, instructing a river guides course. (12 trainees going barefoot or with running/outdoor shoes, me 5 Fingers, "slip and fall" count on the last day me 0 trainees 144 "slip and falls". This says a bit) What can I say...well i have now ordered the other models as well.

They offer exceptional grip even if compared to my real feet. They allow for one to still feel the "real world" under your feet, so using your toes for that extra little bit of grips easy cause you can actually feel what you are standing on. Unlike booties or other river shoes with thick flat soles. I must also admit that when I got them I was a bit sceptical of what they would do when wet, well they are just amazing,

I have never in my 12 years in/around rivers experienced anything like the comfort and grip that these exceptional shoes offer. I have used all forms of river shoes in the past from Rocky's to Merrel and never have i experienced the same level of performance.

The invention of 5 Fingers rates up there along with other great inventions like plastic kayaks, peanut butter and even out do sliced bread. I would highly recomend these shoes for anybody out there using their feet for pleasure in the outdoors. Dry or wet these shoes have become my new "can't leave home without" item.

For those sceptical about the price, remember that you are paying for a proper piece of footwear and not some "blind stitched neoprene tube", and the price tag comes attached to a level of performance. That is in my opinion unrivaled in the market at the moment.
Happy feet make for happy adventures.
